Established in 2007 thanks to an idea of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena aiming to create a new photographies’collection, the Fondazione Fotografia promotes exhibitions and educational activity mainly at its headquarters, the Sant’Agostino° building complex.
Nowadays it owns collections of Italian and foreign artists. The first section, made up of more than 300 works, is particularly dedicated to human and natural landscape, from the 1970s to today; the second one (more than 600 works) collects photographs by the most famous artists from all over the world.
Since april 2014, in order to permit the construction of the new building, designed by the well-known Italian architect Gae Aulenti, the Fondazione has moved to the Palazzo del Foro Boario°°. To have an idea of how the new huge cultural centre will look, click here.
